The Semeru Volcanic Eruption is an activation of Perkumpulan OpenStreetMap Indonesia (POI) to map East Java.

Semeru Volcanic Eruption is a Disaster Mapping Response of Perkumpulan OpenStreetMap Indonesia (POI), supported by the Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team (HOT) regarding the eruption of the Semeru Volcano in Indonesia on December 4, 2021.

Described by POI on their Tasking manager as follows:

“Disaster Emergency Response continues after the eruption of Semeru Volcano which took place last Saturday (4/12). The Lumajang Regency BPBD and the joint team are still continuing the search and evacuation process for residents who are affected or who are thought to be missing.

Based on direct information at 09.20 from the Head of BNPB, Lieutenant General TNI Suharyanto, S.Sos, MM, who is currently on his way to Lumajang, a total of 13 people were reported to have died as a result of the incident. As for the newly identified two people from the Kobokan and Kubuan clusters, Pronojiwo District, Lumajang Regency, East Java Province.”
