Brazil

I’m a geographer based in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil, currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Geospatial Information at the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA), where I also serve as the President of the YouthMappers chapter. I've been involved with YouthMappers since 2019 and had the opportunity to participate in the 2023 YouthMappers Fellows Summit in Jamaica.

My work focuses on slum mapping, disaster risk reduction, and community training through participatory mapping. I’m currently engaged in several initiatives, including YouthMappers, ComMap (an integrated system for community mapping and local capacity building in vulnerable areas, funded by CNPq), Map2Mitigate (mapathons to produce essential data and monitor communities affected by El Niño in Brazil, supported by HOT and TomTom), and fAIr (an exploratory training initiative using AI tools in Salvador). Through these projects, I aim to strengthen the use of collaborative mapping as a tool for community empowerment and local transformation.
