Shamillah Nassozi is a GIS Training Associate working with HOT in Uganda. She is passionate about the use of geospatial data in development and disaster response. She leads HOT’s technical training to refugees, humanitarian and local government partners in Uganda. She is also a YouthMappers Alumni and volunteered with HOT before joining the team in 2018. Shamilah is an active member of the OpenStreetMap community in Uganda and has carried out several GIS workshops and mapathons to foster the community’s growth and use of free open-source tools.
Mapping Energy Saving Solutions in One of the Largest Refugee Settlements in Africa
In February 2020, HOT with support from the Response Innovation Lab in Uganda, carried out an extensive mapping exercise of all energy-saving solutions retail shops in Bidibidi settlement to better understand the existing market and inform the improvement of access to quality energy-saving products amongst the refugee population.
