Bio

Feye worked as the Technical and GIS Specialist of HOT Philippines until December 2020. Before working for HOT, she was a Senior Science Research Specialist under the WebGIS component of the UP Nationwide Operational Assessment of Hazards (NOAH) under the UP Resilience Institute since 2014. She is a strong advocate of open data and free and open-source software for geospatial applications (FOSS4G). She has also been doing volunteer mapping for OpenStreetMap Philippines and has been to different provinces across the Philippines to train students, LGUs, NGAs, NGOs and other stakeholders on how to use OpenStreetMap and other free and open-source geospatial applications. She underwent trainings and conferences related to open-source software and mapping for disaster risk reduction in France, USA, and Germany.

Feye obtained her bachelor’s degree in Geography from the University of the Philippines Diliman in 2013 and is currently taking her master’s degree in Geography from the same university. Last 2019, she was a finalist for the category Greatness in Mapping Award on the State of the Map 2019 held in Heidelberg, Germany.

The PhilAWARE Project: A Year-End Report

This year, remote mapping for Quezon City and the Province of Pampanga were completed, and a new pilot area, Marikina City, was added. Furthermore, field data collection has progressed well in Pampanga despite the pandemic.
