“Brazil Singh is an open mapping advocate, digital innovator, web developer, and community leader from Bangladesh. He serves as an Open Mapping Guru at the Open Mapping Hub Asia-Pacific under the Training Track, where he equips communities with practical and impactful mapping skills. He plays a key role in managing communications for the OpenStreetMap Foundation (OSMF), oversees social media for OpenStreetMap, and actively contributes as a volunteer in the OSMF Local Chapters and Communities Working Group (LCCWG). Brazil is also a committed member of the Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team’s (HOT) Community Working Group. Besides that, Brazil is a Volunteer Regional Ambassador of Youthmappers.
His work extends to collaborations with NGOs on slum mapping initiatives in Bangladesh, and he has supported a local grocery and food delivery company in optimizing their routes using OpenStreetMap data.
Brazil’s contributions have earned him numerous recognitions, including the YouthMappers Leadership Fellowship and the OSM Community Champion Award. Under his leadership, his YouthMappers chapter was honored with both the YouthMappers Community Outreach Award and the Mapping Metrics Award.
A passionate advocate for digital inclusion, Brazil empowers youth to engage in digital mapping and civic tech projects. His areas of interest include flood mapping, sustainable cities, and the development of inclusive digital tools. Guided by a strong vision to build impactful technologies and foster collaboration, Brazil continues to inspire others through training, leadership, and his unwavering commitment to open data and community empowerment.”
