David joined HOT in 2025 serving as Regional Director, Eastern and Southern Africa Open Mapping Hub where he leads open mapping initiatives across 23 countries in the region.
Previously he helped establish and served as CTO for Code for Africa and its network of labs supporting their growth into one of the most impactful civic tech and open data networks in Africa. He’s led projects like GotToVote, openAFRICA, and sourceAFRICA, and supported governments and global institutions. David is a self-taught developer with a strong public purpose.
David leverages his extensive experience to strengthen community mapping capacity across the region and advance HOT’s mission to provide map data which revolutionises disaster management, reduces risks, and contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goal.
