Paula Villar is an architect graduated in 2025 from the Faculty of Architecture, Design and Art at the National University of Asunción (FADA-UNA). Her work focuses on analytical cartography, open geospatial data, and the use of open-source technologies for urban and territorial planning.

From 2022 to 2023, she served as a teaching assistant in Sociology and Architectural Graphics at FADA-UNA.

As part of her undergraduate thesis, she completed a graduation project through an academic internship at the university’s Center for Research, Development and Innovation (CIDi). There, she developed urban atlases for the municipalities of Juan León Mallorquín, Yguazú, Ypejhú–Paranhos, and Pindoty Porã–Sete Quedas. Her work also included authoring a methodological guide for managing geospatial information, using tools such as QGIS, OpenStreetMap, and GeoServer.

Between 2022 and 2025, she served as president of the YouthMappers UNA chapter, where she led collaborative mapping activities, organized training sessions on open geospatial tools, and promoted community engagement. In 2024, she was selected as a YouthMappers Leadership Fellow and participated in the global summit held in Thailand, where she enhanced her skills in spatial data analysis and collaborative leadership.

Later that year, she was invited as a guest speaker at the XIX Pan-American Course on Voluntary Geographic Information (VGI), where she presented “Open Cartography for Urban Development: Contributions from YouthMappers UNA in Paraguay,” highlighting the role of open data in inclusive and localized urban planning.

Since 2025, she has been part of the YouthMappers Volunteer Ambassador cohort and is a voting member of the Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team (HOT).
